Mission Hill Winery Bells Aug 30 - September 10
The Kelowna Art Gallery is proud to present a special exhibition of the Mission Hill Winery Bells. The bells were cast in the Old World tradition by the Paccard Bell Foundry of Annecy, France (near Geneva). With yokes attached, the Bells range in size from more than seven feet tall and 1,600 pounds to just under two feet tall. Each bell is dedicated to a member of the von Mandle family-Anthony, his mother, sister and late father. Canadian born artist Alison Sloga was commissioned to create the beautiful artistry on each bell, integrating the pelican from the von Mandle family crest as the unifying theme on all four bells. The bells of Mission Hill Family Estate will reside in the only known bell tower at a winery anywhere in the world. During the course of their stay at the Kelowna Art Gallery, a representative of Mission Hill Winery will be available to answer questions about the bells and the winery.
