Recent
Acquisitions, Part One June
21- July 28, 2001 This
exhibition features the work of one of Canada’s most accomplished painters,
Wanda Koop. Her painting Evening Without Angels is a large-scale
landscape. She
exhibits her painting installations nationally and internationally. A
series of paintings that were shown in an exhibition titled 1900-2000:
Paintings From A Misshapen Century
at the Kelowna Art Gallery in
2000, were recently accepted into the collection of the National Gallery of
Canada. Two
works by Ann Kipling have also been recently acquired, a series titled View
Through the Spallumcheen. Kipling is a nationally recognized senior Canadian artist,
born in Victoria 1934, who has made her home in the Okanagan since 1973. She has
exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Canada since the early 1960s. The
acquisition of Kiplings’ works was made possible through a grant from the
Central Okanagan Foundation and the Canada Council. There
are three Untitled collages by Toni
Onley that join others in our collection. Toni Onley was born in the Isle of
Man, Scotland, in 1928. He has
shown extensively throughout Canada and also been involved in exhibitions in the
United States, France and Mexico. He
currently lives and works in Vancouver. Dog,
from Untitled Portfolio,
is a print by internationally acclaimed artist, Eric Fischl. His paintings,
prints, and sculptures can be seen in the Museum of American Art; The Museum of
Modern Art, New York; and many other museums and galleries throughout the world.

and Messages,
by
Dyan Marie is a series of photo-based digital images; inkjet output mounted on
archival board and is a gift of the artist.
She had a solo exhibition at the Kelowna Art Gallery in 1999 titled Subjected
to Change: Armatures for Standing
Up. Snow Bird #2, a large oil painting by senior Canadian artist Peter Aspell. He attended the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design) and Academe de Ghent in Belgium. He has had solo exhibitions throughout North America over the past 45 years and his work is held in collections in Canada, the United States and Europe. Installation Images
