This exhibition is a partnership between the Kelowna Art Gallery and Cool Arts Society that showcases the artistic efforts of local artists who have developmental disabilities. Traditionally, people with developmental disabilities have not enjoyed the same access to the arts as non-disabled people; therefore We Are Artists is an important exhibition that promotes diversity, accessibility, and equality in the arts. Sara Lige, a local artist and founder of Cool Arts, has guest curated the exhibition. Since its inception in Kelowna in 2003, Cool Arts has offered arts instruction and art-making opportunities to local adults with developmental disabilities in the Central Okanagan.
