Through hands-on activities, helpful instructions, and age-appropriate information and questions, Family Sundays opens up the world of art and artists for children and adults by providing opportunities to engage, discover, and create.  

Cost for Family Sundays is $3.00 per participant.

We have many varied projects planned as inspired by our diverse exhibits or special events. All the projects are open-ended so even if you come to do the project a second time, you can end up with a completely different result. You may even like it better the second time!  

Take the opportunity to explore different media used by artists with the eclectic exhibitions we have this year. Be inspired by the We Are Artists, Kelowna Collects, Joice M. Hall: Surreal. Real. Ideal., and the Art in Action exhibitions as well as the work in the Dysfunctional Chairs series.

In celebration of our community and the world’s largest sporting event, we have created several Family Sundays that capture the spirit of the winter Olympics.

Special days to celebrate include Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year, Easter, and the beginning of Spring. Artist Trading Cards to trade with fellow artists can be made on the last Sunday of each month.

NEW! Join us on the last Sunday of each month and participate in Artist Trading Cards. 

We will be making one-of-a-kind mini artworks that you can trade with others. Artist trading cards are small, baseball-card size, works of art made with the intention of trading with other individuals.  Artist trading cards started in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1997, and became popular via the Internet.  Now, they are exchanged all over the world. Come and make your own unique cards that can be traded with people in our community.

What is Family Sundays all about?

Join us at the Kelowna Art Gallery as we welcome the community into our Scotiabank Studio and offer the opportunity to participate in creative hands-on art making activities. Bring the whole family to the gallery to view the exciting exhibits and visit the studio where innovative art experiences await.

You can fill a painting with vivid colours and juicy thick paint as you create on an easel. Or mould spectacular sculptural works out of clay. There is always the opportunity to try out a variety of art media, sampling the tools of the artist.

Admission:

Regular Family Sundays are open to the public every Sunday afternoon, 1:00 to 4:00pm.

Admission is $3 per person, which includes participation in the activity and admission to the gallery.
