| Job Title: PUBLIC PROGRAMMING
ASSISTANT
Job Summary:
The Public Programming Assistant contributes to the
mission of the Kelowna Art Gallery by carrying out tasks within the
dimensions of the job description and is directly accountable to the Head
of Public Programming.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Public Programming Assistant is responsible for
assisting the Head of Public Programming in tour programs, docent
management and training, classes and workshops, Family Sundays, and
special community outreach projects and programs, as follows:
 | Work with the Head
of Public Programming on the creation, development and organization
of the School Tour Program.
 | Lead a variety of
tours to gain a broad perspective of Public Programming, including
tours for seniors, adults, preschoolers, Brownies, Guides,
Multicultural organizations, etc.
 | Design, research,
create and disseminate Teachers’ Guides to schools.
 | Work with the
Head of Public Programming on evaluating programs
 | Assist with
development, promotion and implementation of adult and children’s
art classes.
 | Assist with special
community collaborations and community exhibitions.
 | Research and
prepare education information for the public.
 | Research and
prepare current methods of enhancing exhibition-related programming
to give art meaning to the general public.
 | Work with
Marketing/Fundraising Coordinator on the promotion of Public
Programming activities.
 | Oversee Family
Sundays program
 | Any other related
duties as directed by the Head of Public Programming

Working Conditions:
This is a full time position based on a 35 hour week.
Flexible hours will be dictated by program and exhibition schedules.
Preferred
Qualifications:
 | Proficient in
Microsoft Office
 | Proficient in
English
 | Background in
teaching or fine arts
 | Experience working
with children
 | Excellent
communication (written and verbal) skills and ability to establish
and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers,
and members of the public
 | Excellent
organizational and project management skills
 | Knowledge of
contemporary art is an asset |
