The Kelowna Art Gallery was
founded in 1976.
Incorporated as a Society on
March 14, 1977, the gallery was 900 square feet in a corner of the Kelowna
Centennial Museum. In 1995, architect Mitch Vance of local architectural
firm Fulker Maltby was chosen to design the new gallery. The official
opening of the gallery took place on March 29th, 1996.
The Kelowna Art Gallery is now
located just a block from its original location, downtown on Water Street. The
new 15,000 square foot facility offers three gallery spaces. The Treadgold/
Bullock Gallery, The Reynolds Gallery and the Rotary Courtyard.
In addition, the building
boasts an impressive front hall and classroom, Scotiabank Studio, permanent collection storage,
technical and carpentry rooms and upper/lower level offices.
